Position Overview 

The Senior Network Engineer designs and delivers wireless, LAN, and WAN solutions for Frontline Managed Services’ customers and leads enterprise connectivity initiatives that implement new technologies, transform existing environments, or integrate networks following customer mergers and acquisitions. The role requires the business acumen to communicate with customer stakeholders, translate business needs into technical solutions, and work closely with Frontline peers and third-party vendors/ISPs to ensure solutions meet security and governance standards and contractual SLAs.

 

What You’ll Do

·       Customer partnership: Develop and maintain positive relationships with customer business and IT leaders, Frontline peers (NOC/Service Desk/Security), and vendors/ISPs.

·       Continuous learning: Stay current on innovative networking technologies (training, webinars, conferences).

·       Design & escalation: Identify, design, implement, and provide Tier 4 escalation support for Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, and firewall solutions in customer environments.

·       Documentation: Produce customer-ready documentation—HLD/LLD designs, as-built guides, runbooks, project artifacts, and executive summaries/business cases.

·       Knowledge transfer: Transition solutions to Frontline operational teams and/or customer IT; provide ongoing Tier 4 support as needed.

·       Project delivery: Coordinate and sometimes lead projects, including planning, risk management, change windows, and stakeholder communication.

·       Problem solving: Proactively research and resolve complex issues across diverse customer networks.

·       Alignment: Ensure solutions align with customer business outcomes, Frontline reference architectures, and security/compliance requirements.

·       After-hours work: Support maintenance windows and critical incidents outside normal business hours when required.

 

Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites.

Compensation Range- $135,000-155,000k USD

 

Role-Specific Responsibilities

·       Define, track, and report project metrics and SLA-aligned KPIs (availability, latency, MTTR, change success rate).

·       Mentor Frontline team members and customer operations staff as appropriate.

·       Prepare Scopes of Work (SOWs)/Levels of Effort (LOEs) and collaborate with vendors/ISPs on quoting and delivery.

·       (As needed) Support pre-sales discovery and design workshops to shape customer solutions.

 

What You Bring

Education

·       Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills with customer-facing polish

 

Core Technical Qualifications

·       Hands-on experience designing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, including security policies, site-to-site/remote-access VPNs, and use of management/monitoring tools (e.g., FortiManager/FortiAnalyzer/FortiCloud).

 

Minimum Work Experience

·       5+ years supporting Wi-Fi, LAN, WAN, and firewall solutions across diverse platforms (Fortinet, Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Meraki, Palo Alto) and telco technologies (DIA, MPLS, SD-WAN).

·       3+ years designing LAN and WAN solutions (campus/branch/DC), including routing protocols and redundancy.

·       Demonstrated expertise in advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of routing and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

·       Experience with FortiGate/FortiClient (FortiCloud/FortiManager a plus).

 

Role-Specific Qualifications

·       Experience developing BC/DR network plans incorporating HSRP/VRRP, SD-WAN, and circuit/device redundancy.

·       Experience with VoIP, QoS/packet prioritization, and traffic shaping.

·       Experience designing and supporting FortiClient VPN configurations.

·       Experience implementing RADIUS (e.g., NPS, ISE) for auth/accounting.

 

Preferred Certifications: Fortinet NSE 6+ (or equivalent), CCNP/CCIE, (Meraki, Palo Alto, or SD-WAN certs a plus).
